Tiggs and Save Point have collaborated to create relaxing and dreamy renditions of 10 tracks from the World of Warcraft series for Tiggs's debut Curaga Records album "Video Game Lofi: World of Warcraft." Tiggs’ ethereal and dreamy vocals are featured throughout the entire album, alongside jazzy reharms, mellow guitars, rich bass tones, and crisp lo-fi drums. Tiggs's passion for World of Warcraft music is evident in each performance and unique arrangement. The album covers a wide range of favorite tracks, including "New Dalaran," "Song of Elune," "Bloodsail," and more. These tracks span from the base game to several expansions such as The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Legion, and Cataclysm. Instrumental features from the talented David Gibson McLean on guitar, Lionmight’s soothing electric violin, and Steven Higbee's wistful ocarina. The World of Warcraft music featured on this release was originally composed by Neal Acree, Robert Brooks, Jason Hayes, Russell Brower, and Derek Duke.
Tiggs Artist Note: As an avid World of Warcraft player since the end of Burning Crusade (please don’t ask how many hours I’ve played), I knew I had to choose it when Save Point asked me what I would like to arrange for an album. World of Warcraft is my favorite game, and is what inspired me to make video game music! Though the melodies have been swirling in my head for over a decade now, I couldn’t figure out how to make these arrangements come to life without my friend Save Point. He took my ideas and turned them into such beautiful and unique arrangements, and I couldn’t be happier with the work we have done. Save Point demonstrated his incredible musicality from his piano solos to production, and it was a fantastic experience working with and learning from him. In these songs I got to sing in many different styles and ranges from low jazz to (sometimes excessively) high ethereal vocals, four different languages (only one of them isn’t from Azeroth), and lush harmonies creating varied textures and tones throughout the album. Though the album mostly features my vocals, because of the collaborative nature of WoW I wanted to feature some of my closest friends and their unique talents. The end result is such a unique blend of all of our skills and passions, and it was such an amazing and rewarding experience to work with the incredibly talented Save Point on making this album.
Save Point Artist Note: Though I haven’t been active since the days of the Lich King (and oh boy did I LOVE playing as a brutal Death Knight), I’ve definitely played my fair share back in the day, and Warcraft III will forever be one of my favorite games. The incredible music is one aspect you can't help but notice within the franchise. After producing this album with my talented friend Tiggs, I've gained an even greater appreciation for the game's beautiful melodies and attention to detail. Our process was fairly straightforward. Tiggs would arrange a version of each song and then pass the torch to me. I would further arrange the songs into a lo-fi hip hop, chill hop, and even jazz hop style, and together we worked towards maintaining the ethereal and contemplative nature of the source material. This album is full of lush vocals, jazzy reharms, smooth guitar licks, and warm punchy lofi drums, and I had a blast working with Tiggs to bring her vision to life.
